MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU | Watch the Official Trailer

This summer, from the biggest global animated franchise in history, comes the origin story of how the world’s greatest supervillain first met his iconic Minions, forged cinema’s most despicable crew and faced off against the most unstoppable criminal force ever assembled in Minions: The Rise of Gru.

Long before he becomes the master of evil, Gru (Oscar® nominee Steve Carell) is just a 12-year-old boy in 1970s suburbia, plotting to take over the world from his basement.

It’s not going particularly well. When Gru crosses paths with the Minions, including Kevin, Stuart, Bob, and Otto—a new Minion sporting braces and a desperate need to please—this unexpected family joins forces. Together, they build their first lair, design their first weapons, and strive to execute their first missions.

When the infamous supervillain supergroup, the Vicious 6, oust their leader—legendary martial arts fighter Wild Knuckles (Oscar® winner Alan Arkin)— Gru, their most devoted fanboy, interviews to become their newest member. The Vicious 6 is not impressed by the diminutive, wannabe villain, but then Gru outsmarts (and enrages) them, and he suddenly finds himself the mortal enemy of the apex of evil. With Gru on the run, the Minions attempt to master the art of kung fu to help save him, and Gru discovers that even bad guys need a little help from their friends.

Featuring more spectacular action than any film in Illumination history and packed with the franchise’s signature subversive humor, Minions: The Rise of Gru stars a thrilling new cast, including, the Vicious 6: Taraji P. Henson as cool and confident leader Belle Bottom, whose chain belt doubles as a lethal disco-ball mace; Jean-Claude Van Damme as the nihilistic Jean Clawed, who’s armed (literally) with a giant robotic claw; Lucy Lawless as Nunchuck, whose traditional nun’s habit hides her deadly nun-chucks; Dolph Lundgren as Swedish roller-skate champion Svengeance, who dispenses his enemies with spin kicks from his spiked skates; and Danny Trejo as Stronghold, whose giant iron hands are both a menace to others and a burden to him.

The film also stars Russell Brand as Young Dr. Nefario, an aspiring mad scientist, Michelle Yeoh as Master Chow, an acupuncturist with mad kung fu skills, and Oscar® winner Julie Andrews as Gru’s maddeningly self-absorbed mom.

Steered by the franchise’s original creators, Minions: The Rise of Gru is produced by visionary Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and his longtime collaborators Janet Healy and Chris Renaud. The film is directed by returning franchise filmmaker Kyle Balda (Despicable Me 3, Minions), co-directed by Brad Ableson (The Simpsons) and Jonathan del Val (The Secret Life of Pets films), and features the iconic voice of Pierre Coffin as the Minions and a killer ’70s soundtrack courtesy of legendary Grammy-winning music producer Jack Antonoff.

THE BAD GUYS: Watch the New Featurettes

“Draw Mr. Wolf with the Cast + Director!” Featurette

In the “A Look Inside: Meet The Bad Guys” Featurette, hear from the baddest cast to hit the big screen on what they think of their new film. Watch now!

Nobody has ever failed so hard at trying to be good as The Bad Guys.

In the new action comedy from DreamWorks Animation, based on the New York Times best-selling book series, a crackerjack criminal crew of animal outlaws are about to attempt their most challenging con yet—becoming model citizens.

Never have there been five friends as infamous as The Bad Guys—dashing pickpocket Mr. Wolf (Academy Award® winner Sam Rockwell, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), seen-it-all safecracker Mr. Snake (Marc Maron, GLOW), chill master-of-disguise Mr. Shark (Craig Robinson, Hot Tub Time Machine franchise), short-fused “muscle” Mr. Piranha (Anthony Ramos, In the Heights) and sharp-tongued expert hacker Ms. Tarantula (Awkwafina, Crazy Rich Asians), aka “Webs.”

But when, after years of countless heists and being the world’s most-wanted villains, the gang is finally caught, Mr. Wolf brokers a deal (that he has no intention of keeping) to save them all from prison: The Bad Guys will go good.

Under the tutelage of their mentor Professor Marmalade (Richard Ayoade, Paddington 2), an arrogant (but adorable!) guinea pig, The Bad Guys set out to fool the world that they’ve been transformed. Along the way, though, Mr. Wolf begins to suspect that doing good for real may give him what he’s always secretly longed for: acceptance. So when a new villain threatens the city, can Mr. Wolf persuade the rest of the gang to become … The Good Guys?

The film co-stars Zazie Beetz (Joker), Lilly Singh (Bad Moms) and Emmy winner Alex Borstein (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel).

Based on the blockbuster Scholastic book series by Aaron Blabey, The Bad Guys is directed by Pierre Perifel (animator, the Kung Fu Panda films), making his feature-directing debut. The film is produced by Damon Ross (development executive Trolls, The Boss Baby, co-producer Nacho Libre) and Rebecca Huntley (associate producer, The Boss Baby). The executive producers are Aaron Blabey, Etan Cohen and Patrick Hughes.

A charismatic career criminal, Danny instead offers him a score: the biggest bank heist in Los Angeles history: $32 million. With his wife’s survival on the line, Will can’t say no.

REVIEW: The Lost City ★★★★

What a nice pleasant surprise this film is, many are skeptical whether to watch this film or not.

It’s safe to say, the film and the cast will not disappoint. Get ready to laugh! There’s just something ab out watching people get lost in the jungle with some action, some comedy and some drama mixed in. It’s almost like we don’t get enough of these films. Remember ‘The Mummy’ with Brendan Frasier and how it was an adventure, with a love twist and some comedy thrown in there? If you enjoyed watching those types of films then you will definitely be all about this one. Bring on the nostalgia!

The on-screen chemistry between Sandra Bullock who plays the leading lady, Loretta Sage and Channing Tatum who plays the role of a luscious model, Alan is enlightening.

Sandra Bullock takes on the role of a brilliant, but reclusive author with an archaeological background that has spent her career writing about exotic places in her popular romance-adventure novels featuring a handsome cover model Alan insert… ahem Mister Channing Tatum of course!

Let’s be honest, you can throw both these artist into any film and they can equally make it work. Sandra Bullock always gives it her all and never disappoints. Her comedic passion really does drive her films. As for Channing Tatum, he has to be one of the most underrated comedians in films. The man’s got chops and come on he’s certainly some great eye-candy. But even without the looks, he really does give it his all in all his films but when it comes to little jokes and comedy sequences such as this film, he really does shine. It’s great, sexy and impressive to see a many with his looks to make fun of himself, understand comedy and just let it all go. Let’s hope these two come together for another film because we really need it. If we do get another one of these, let’s just say there better be a better script as it was not the best or the most funny. Channing and Sandra were still able to take it and run with it.

The funny corny thing about Channing’s character is that he has dedicated his life to taking on this fabio-hero like character, “Dash” in real life. Loretta is annoyed by the fact that this man actually thinks he’s the man from her books and throw some reality into his face while on the first stop of her new book tour. In a twist of events, right after their little fight, Loretta is kidnapped by a spoiled little billionaire played by Daniel Radcliffe.

Like a spoiled little brat, this billionaire kidnaps her to have her find an ancient lost city and it’s treasures which she describes in on of her books. Like any leading man, Alan sets off to rescue his leading lady to prove that he can be the hero from the pages in her novels. Together they both take on the elements of the jungle, a group of mercenaries on a mission to capture her while trying to survive and secretly hoping to find the lost city.

If you want to have a good time and laugh, this is one you can’t miss.

REVIEW: The Batman ★★★★★

It’s not just a call… It’s a warning.

The long-awaited film, The Batman starring Robert Pattinson as the Batman himself and Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman will not disappoint you! From Warner Bros. Pictures comes Matt Reeves’ “The Batman,” starring Robert Pattinson in the dual role of Gotham City’s vigilante detective and his alter ego, reclusive billionaire Bruce Wayne.

BATMAN
WARNER BROS

Is it the BEST Batman film? Probably not, but it is definitely top 5. It will fulfill your expectations as it takes your on a wild detective journey, it’s grim and gritty filled with all the action you want. Most definitely different from all the other Batman films which will make you love this film.

Get ready because the film is dark and I mean DARK. While the film is three hours long and might make you nervous, trust me the three hours fly by; which only means it’s just that intriguing to watch and will keep your attention.

Must say I was a bit nervous when I heard that Mr. Twilight vampire, Robert Pattinson was taking on the role of The Batman, but I must say I can’t see anyone else filling these shoes especially with the stellar cast around him. Zoë Kravitz brought in the sex appeal and strong woman vibe as the Catwoman to the dark film while also bringing in a bit romance.

What most surprised me about this film was the makeup! Watch the film and see if you recognize Colin Farrell. It’s like the penguin devoured him!

Now lets get on to the villain, the Riddler played by Paul Dano… WOW! His portrayal of the Riddler will give you chills and might even make you cringe. You don’t see much from Paul Dano but when you do, it just smacks you in the face!

BATMAN
WARNER BROS

Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman, striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies—Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright)—amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens.

When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.

REVIEW: Death On The Nile ★★★★

Imagine Death on The Nile as two films coming together, Romeo & Juliet meets Clue.

Agatha Christie fans finally get to visually experience, “Death on the Nile”. Just a heads up, several characters were cut out of the film that are in the book, so if you’re hoping for the full bang… don’t get your hopes up. Good thing is it works…

Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot’s Egyptian vacation aboard a glamorous river steamer turns into a terrifying search for a murderer when a picture-perfect couple’s idyllic honeymoon is tragically cut short. The film is set against an epic landscape of sweeping desert views and the majestic Giza pyramids, this tale of obsessive passion and incapacitating jealousy features a group of perfectly dressed travelers, and there’s enough wicked twists and turns to leave audiences guessing until the final, shocking ending.

The film gets off to a very slow start and even loses you, but luckily for the film it does pick up the pace once the first murder is committed. From there, the film moves rather quickly from one suspect to the next, while Hercule Poirot played by Kenneth Branagh is perhaps the most interesting character in the film and holds it together. Gal Gadot is the leading lady in the film and perhaps lacked more expression, there was just something about her part that wasn’t convincing. Emma Mackey and Tom Bateman play are also main players in the game and did their part on holding the film together.

About an hour in to the film you will begin to be intrigued by what is going on and suspense starts to build. For the next hour, various plot lines will begin to be revealed with each character being put in the hot seat, well… the ones that are still alive.

One thing is for sure, your eyes will be completely satisfied with the mesmerizing establishing shots and beautiful costume designs. Now, if you’re into deep murder mysteries, you might be a little disappointed with this one as you’re thrown into Poirot’s world, while he tries unravel the mystery of all the deaths going on around him. It’s just a regular murder mystery that will give you hints on who’s behind all the murders. If you pay enough attention, you will be able to pinpoint the culprit.

Overall, Death on the Nile will definitely intrigue you and fill you with all the suspense you desire. It’s worth a watch!
